Wellhaven column: Warm up at Wellhaven

Seniors at Wellhaven in River Falls warmed up Jan. 4 with tropical drinks and pizza during a luau celebration. Photo courtesy of Wellhaven.

The holiday season is already over and it has been a chilly one! Wellhaven Senior Living offered

seniors a chance to warm up and relax.

On Jan. 4 at 4:30 p.m. seniors enjoyed free pizza and tropical drinks at our Pizza Party Luau. We hope the food, drinks, music and décor created an environment that everyone can enjoyed.

Many people long to get away from the harshness of the Midwest winters. Most people, however, cannot afford to go anywhere. And many people, especially seniors, are unable to

travel due to health issues. Recently, staycations have become popular. According to the

Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a staycation is a vacation spent at home and nearby. River Falls is

close enough to the Twin Cities to provide many fun and inexpensive staycation options.

Did you know that if you are on Medical Assistance you can get in to the Science Museum for $5 rather than pay $12.95 for a senior or $18.95 for an adult? And the $5 includes a ticket to the

Omni Theater. If you do your research you can find other ways to save your money.

During the winter months it is really hard for a lot of seniors to get around and going to the

Cities is just not an option. That is one of the reasons we hosted our Pizza Party Luau. There

are pictures from our party as well as many others when you look us up on Facebook under

TLHA Wellhaven Senior Living.

Coming up soon Wellhaven will be pairing with Adoray Home Health and Hospice to host a

Lunch and Learn. This event will take place on Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. Adoray speakers will discuss hospice and how to consider the conversation. Join us to learn something new and enjoy a light luncheon.
