Methodist Church celebrates LGBTQ rights this Sunday
River Falls United Methodist Church is celebrating their fifth anniversary as a reconciling congregation, valuing the gifts and full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer people, at a 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Feb. 21, with Bishop Melvin Talbert speaking. A lunch will follow.
Talbert’s life was changed forever when as a young member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee in 1960 he spent three days and nights in an Atlanta jail cell with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. With a spirit and conviction forged in the crucible of the civil rights movement, today Bishop Talbert is an outspoken advocate for the rights of LGBTQ people.
All are welcome to attend, the church is at 127 South 2nd St.
