Column: Wellhaven is partnering with Adoray
Wellhaven Senior Living will be hosting a lunch-and-learn with Adoray Home Health and Hospice this month.
According to Adoray.org, "Adoray Home Health and Hospice partners with many organizations to educate the community on managing chronic illness, caregiving, end-of-life, and grief and bereavement issues. Adoray welcomes any opportunity to share information about aging and end-of-life care. We are the community's leading resource regarding many issues and concerns individuals and families will face as they help their loved ones navigate major healthcare issues and prepare for their final months of life."
Hospice services are and have been used at our facility. Our experiences with them have been wonderful. I have had a grandparent on The Lutheran Home Campus on hospice and you cannot believe the wonderful things they do for the person on hospice and their family. They brought veterans to my grandpa to honor him and award him for his services to America. I know how amazing my grandpa felt that day. I was so grateful for Adoray to go to such lengths to show my grandpa how proud we were of him.
Adoray's stores "Treasures of the Heart" are beloved by many. People can donate items no longer wanted and shop to find new treasures. It is an inexpensive store that is run solely by volunteers.
According to Adoray.org, "In 2016, volunteers donated 18,578 hours of service to Treasures from the Heart." These stores are used to help fund the many services Adoray provides.
We are happy to be partnering with Adoray and we welcome community members to join us at the lunch-and-learn. There will be plenty of food to eat and knowledge gained. Adoray will provide insight on how to converse with a person who is in their final stages of life. Please join us at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Wellhaven.
Coming up soon Wellhaven will host a chocolate and wine tasting event at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13.
